Douyin share link opens the home page, or says 「因作品权限或已被删除，无法观看」? Three outcomes, told apart
Measured 2026-11-02 from an ordinary home connection in Malaysia, requesting v.douyin.com short links the way a phone browser does, one request each. Two more cases come from live requests that day; only their outcome is given, not the links.
Short answer: a v.douyin.com short link redirects once, and where it lands tells you what it is.

- Two short links already published in our tutorials:
v.douyin.com/VeXgdE_QwTElands on/share/video/7675706162171448622/;v.douyin.com/G8Oggg_IXMAlands on/share/note/7680883233307342947/, an image post. - A made-up
v.douyin.com/abcdEFGH123/lands onwww.douyin.com/with status 200. - A real share link pasted by a user that morning also landed on the home page.
It reached /share/video/ and still will not play
An id is not a watchable video. Another real link that morning reached /share/video/<id>/, and Douyin's own embed player (the page open.douyin.com publishes for other sites) answered 「因作品权限或已被删除，无法观看，去看看其他作品吧」: "this post can't be viewed because of its permissions or because it was deleted". The author deleted it, made it private, or it is restricted; from outside there is no telling which.
Four usual mistakes
- Handling videos only. Image posts land on
/share/note/; code that expects/share/video/calls them failures. - Treating the share text as the link. The app copies a sentence with the link inside it; pick the link out first (the share text is not a link).
- Taking the home page for success. The home page answers 200 with a full page. Judge by the path you landed on, never by the status code.
- Retrying in a loop. Douyin's security layer refuses automated traffic; when a read fails, stop.
What LinkDigest answers
LinkDigest reads Douyin through Douyin's own embed player: no account, nobody's cookies, no verification bypassed. Its answers to the cases above are fixed, and none of them is charged:
- Lands on the home page: the link has expired, or the video was deleted or made private; check it in the app, and if it still plays there, save it and upload the file.
- The embed player says 「因作品权限或已被删除」: the post is private, deleted or restricted, and there is nothing to read.
- An image post: read as usual, with the text in every image.
